On September 20, Azerbaijan celebrates "Oilmen's Day," honoring the professionals in the oil and gas industry. This year marks the 16th consecutive celebration of this important occasion. The significance of this date is not coincidental; it aligns with the signing of the "Deal of the Century," which initiated the revitalization of Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector and laid the foundation for the country's future prosperity.
On September 20, 1994, an agreement was signed regarding the distribution of resources from the "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" oil field block. As a result of this pivotal agreement, Azerbaijan has transformed from a nation dependent on foreign investment in oil production to an active investor in various sectors both domestically and internationally. Oil revenues have enabled Azerbaijan to undertake significant projects in Georgia, Turkey, and beyond.
